Neco Corporation logo
Neco Corporation is the Company that runs the Neco Corporation factory in Stray. They are the cause of the trash in the lower level, as dumping the trash down there is how they dispose of it. They are also the cause of the Zurk infestation of the Dead City, as they created the bacteria that eventually resulted in the Zurks.
Neco Corp may can be compared to Disney's Buy'N'Large, as the overarching power structure within Walled City 99 (see "Company sectors" below)
History[]
Neco corp's work began at a time when people had not yet died out. It seems that Neco cared more about advertising than about reputation. The company was engaged in recycling garbage, but quickly began to simply dump it to the lower levels, not caring about its further processing. Realizing that there was too much garbage there, they developed a garbage-decomposing bacterium (which later became Zurks), but this did not save humanity from the plague epidemic, which began, among other things, due to problems with garbage.
Company activities[]
Neco Corporation factory still operates in the city, and is still engaged in the disposal (dumping to the lower level) of garbage. Their factory is completely powered by an Atomic Battery. It is guarded by Sentinels, and only employees of the corporation have the right to go inside: it is Worker, Raymile, Garay, some Background characters who works there too.
Neco has a close-knit team, and employees are usually not fired, with the exception of Blazer, it is known that Krooni also used to work with him. If you look closely at the workers in the factory and outside it, you will notice that their limbs are the same colors and some of them (unnamed Worker) have badges from the corporation.
Factory employees do not know what happens on the lower levels after dumping garbage there. They think it's recycled there. It seems that only Bonobot is concerned about the issue of garbage on the lower levels, even though they don't work at the factory.
Company sectors[]
- Trash disposal - described above.
- Plant manufacturing or lab experiments - Neco corp was engaged in the creation of plants for urban air purification ("NECO PLANTS: Grow in the dark. You don't need the sun to enjoy nature.").
- Transport - When the Atomic Battery is placed in the metro station's control room, the Neco Corporation logo shows on the screen. This implies Neco corp had control over the public transport system.
- Technology and military - Sentinels heavily guard the Neco Corporation Factory and terminate intruders. This implies that the Neco Corporation held high influence in the city, or helped develop the technology themselves - it is unknown who made the Sentinels.
Trivia[]
- Their slogan is "Don't worry about trash, Neco Corporation© takes care of everything!"
- The Neco Plants slogan is “Grow in the dark. You don't need the sun to enjoy nature."
- The name of the corporation is a wordplay. The word "neko" means "cat" in Japanese, and is also consonant with the word "eco".
- Alternatively, because the logo contains a dot after the N, it could have the implied meaning of "NotEco", as the company dumped trash to the lower level with little care for the environment.
