Chapter 10: Midtown is the chapter after Chapter 9: Antvillage.

In her Notebook, Clementine says that they managed to contact the Upper Level and those upper-level contact-man reside in a place called Midtown, away from all the garbage and sickness of The Slums. Even in the serious and urgent times, Humans couldn't help but divide themselves by social class. Back then a lot of people from The Slums were prepared to do anything to move to the Upper Level. Apparently Companions have also copied this behavior.

Plot[]

The cat goes to Midtown via the Subway station, where B-12 remembers that he had a family when he was a Human. In a residential area of Midtown, they see someone called Modrin being arrested, and that Clementine herself is wanted. Residents of the city tell him that she lives in a Residence.

On the ground floor of the Residence there are street dancers Simon, Miko and Jeanma. The cat tries to take a cassette tape from a pile near Simon, but he notices it and stops the cat. He says that the Sentinels, the police force of this city, have installed Cameras in the Residence so that they cannot dance there. He said that if the cat breaks all three cameras, he will get a cassette. The cat jumps on all three cameras on the second floor of the Residence and returns to Simon, and he gives him a tape with LOUD MUSIC.

After going further to the address written on the back of the photo, the cat finds a boarded-up door, and enters the apartment through the window. Sneaking inside, the cat meets Clementine, who confused him with the Sentinels. She says that she has been developing a plan for using the old metro train for a long time, but to launch it, an Atomic Battery is needed, and it is now at the Neco Corporation factory. She has a contact who worked there and knows how to steal the battery. She gives the cat and B-12 a message and lets them go.

The message says about someone in a bomber jacket and with a gold chain. This is Blazer, and he stands near the entrance to the factory. After looking at the note passed by Clementine, he tells the cat his plan: he wants to get into the factory in work clothes, for this he needs a Jacket and Helmet. One of the workers at the factory, Garay, suggests that they bought their uniform in a Clothing store and a Hat shop.

A disgruntled Ozi salesman works in a Clothing store. He hates loud music the most. The cat runs into the fitting room of his store and B-12 inserts into the boombox standing there a cassette that Simon gave them. While Ozi is trying to turn off the boombox, Cat and B-12 steal a Worker Jacket and head to the Hat shop. There, Oskoor is waiting for his colleague Stuplachee, who, as he thinks, went to the bar. In the bar, the cat finds a sleeping drunk Stuplachee in the back room, and drops bottles of oil on him. He wakes up, screams and goes to the Hat shop. The cat climbs into a nearby box, and Stuplachee takes him inside, where he steals the Helmet.

Returning to the Blazer, the cat and B-12 give him a work uniform, he changes clothes and carries the cat in a box through the checkpoint, and he distracts the worker while the cat jumps out of the box and heads deep into the factory guarded by Sentinels. In the room with the Atomic Battery, he bypasses the protection and takes it, returning back in a Bucket-Zip-Line.

The Residence is cordoned off, there is a search going on, and some of its residents have gathered at the entrance. The cat goes up to Clementine's apartment, where she left an encrypted note. B-12 helps to decipher it, and it says that Clementine is in a Nightclub with Blazer. The Bouncer does not let the cat into the Nightclub, but Simon, whom he also did not let along with his friends, suggests that you can get into the club through a window in the alley behind the club. There, a Companion named Alex offers the cat to enter the club through the window.

At the club, the Bartender tells the cat that Blazer has booked a VIP balcony, but there is no way to get there because someone stole the Lever Handle. It was a Nightclub visitor named Fripp, and he offers the cat a lever handle in exchange for a Strange Drink. The cat brings him a drink, and he gives him a lever handle, which B-12 puts back in, and they climb into the VIP room by the lamps on the ceiling.

In the VIP room, Blazer is waiting for them, he tied up Clementine and called the Sentinels. He was paid to catch the thieves of the Atomic Battery, and the Sentinels send the cat, B-12 and Clementine to Jail.

🛈 Ok here you are little one. This is the second floor of the city.
🛈 You need to find the rebels now, they are hiding somewhere around here.
🛈 I don't know where they are staying
🛈 but if you follow the rebellion logo you should find their hideout.
🛈 Don't forget to give them the plans that we gave you ok?
🛈 Good luck little one. Stay safe.
🛈 Come on. Bring the plan to the rebels. They'll help you get out of this level.

Dialogue/Midtown/_OLD/NewMidtown/Dial_EngineerSubwayFixed[]

The second dialogue unused in the chapter is written entirely in French, sometimes with letters separated by spaces.

It is about an engineer who is trying to fix a subway train - their design appeared in the train design from 2017. The engineer tries to fix the train to get the cat to the Control Room, and also mentions a Level 3 Pass, which is necessary to open the sealed doors to the subway tunnel, and an Atomic Battery.
